A Message from the Chariman

In welcoming starting of the Year 2004 , The committee of Hong Kong Inventors Association would like to wish All Friends , Associates , Honorary Presidents , Consultants and Members a Healthy and Happy New Year , bringing forth more inventions to enhance the economy and contribute to the society.

In the mean time , I would like to list the key projects we are going to accomplish this year .

1. To encourage more participation in the invention enhancing the economy , we have changed our name to " Hong Kong Invention Association " . The same has been approved by the Government and we are going to make public announcement in due course ;

2. To gear with the New Developments , We are going to hold a General Meeeting electng the New committee ; in lieu of that , an organizing sub-committee was set up ; besides , a celecbrating party will be held upon the election and celebrities will be invited theu ;

3. An " Invention Completition " was planned to be held in April to July 2004 timeframe and Government sponsorship ( SME Development Fund ) had been applied ; should the said Development Fund be granted , preparation works will be started immediately ;

4. In line with the Government's plan of over HK$20 billion in the " West Kowloon Culture & Recereation Complex " , We are proposing a " International Invention Expo " be incorporated into scheme ;

5. To let the outstanding inventions of our members be known to the interested investors both within Hong Kong and Overseas , We are going to comply a booklet titled " Outstanding Invention of HKIA members 2004" . Please send the details of your inventions to the committee as soon as possible .

6. From October to December last year , I led 15 members and three Inventors of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to seven different exhibitions ( Local & Overseas ) winning varous awards , which is the record of the Association ; we plan to participate another 10 different exhibitions this year from April to November ; Members and Inventors are encouraged to coordinate with the Committee for joining ;

7. The Association will continue our effort in Help , Promoting and Motivating Inventions & Innovation of Hong Kong . We will continue to invite Universities , Education Organization , Research organizations and Inventors of Hong Kong to participate more than 10 International & Local Invention Fairs in coming April to Nov 2004 .

8. The Association will also continue our efforts in assisting members registering their inventions for local and international Patent protections ; besides , we will help in introducing the inventions to intersted parties for their investment , making the inventions turning to commercial application .
